Dr Vasima Khan has been associated with Computer Science & Engineering Department at Sagar Institute of Science & Technology (SISTec), Gandhi Nagar, Bhopal, since October, 2020. Dr. Vasima is a unique blend of technical expertise with student focused teaching, a dedicated and hardworking professional who is committed to providing a well-balanced, supportive and learning environment for all students. She has done her Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate in Computer Science and Engineering and having more than nine years of experience of teaching in both UG and PG engineering colleges. Dr. Vasima taught various important technical subjects out of which conceptual skills are Operating System, Compiler Design, Theory of Computing, Databases and Computer Architecture. Also, She taught a few recent subjects like Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing etc. She is doing significant research work in the area of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, GAN, Natural Language Processing, Wireless Sensor Network and others from last few years. Dr Vasima is having more than 16 research papers in national and international journals and conferences. She has participated as well as coordinated various events like Faculty Development Program, Workshops, Conferences, Cultural and Sports functions etc. She also has experience in running an ACM student chapter from last 2 years. Always ready to learn, teach and innovate as well as tries to incorporate new ways into teaching.

Recent Projects Completed:

  • Intent Detection using Deep Learning and NLP: Detecting and recognizing the intention behind a text is a kind of well known problem these days. Given a sentence, it will give you one out of the specified classes as output. For performing this task, I had created a model using LSTM, FC (Dense) alongwith the recent most technique for NLP that is BERT. I have achieved an accuracy of 99.6% which is extremely good as compared to the previous work. For implementation, I have used python as the programming language along with some other libraries like numpy, pandas, sklearn, keras, tensorflow and a few more.
  • Forecasting Housing Prices on California Housing Dataset using Machine Learning: This is done using DecisionTreeRegressor, LinearRegression, RandomForestRegressor, XGBoost and compared the loss which is mean squared error in my case. In this project, I had used Python and scikit-learn to build models using these algorithms, and apply them to forecast the bike rentals.

  • Classify Handwritten digits from MNIST and clothes in Fashion MNIST Dataset: This is a classification task which classifies a given image into the given set of classes. This is done with a couple of Machine Learning algorithms like SGD Classifier, XGBClassifier, Softmax Regression (multi-class LogisticRegression), DecisionTreeClassifier, RandomForestClassifier, Ensemble (with soft voting) and compared the accuracy using scikit-learn. This is performed both on MNIST and Fashion MNIST datasets.
